people need loveA pastor shares  his experience as he was visiting a new couple that started attending his church:

As he talked with the parents at the kitchen table, the children were at play not far from where he sat. Suddenly, he heard an animal-like moan come from the other room. It caught his attention, as well as the mothers, prompting her to step out.

Only seconds later she returned carrying a little crippled child with a disfigured face and limbs. She places him on the floor next to the other children and looks to the pastor and said, “this is Johnny, and he is six.”

The pastor was not sure what to say, for his appearance was nearly appalling. After several other surface questions, he gathered a few feeble word to ask in an indirect sort of way, how can you love him?

The parents explain that they love him even more than the other children.

The pastor shocked by their favoritism for their crippled son, was again at a loss for words. The father continued, “We love him more, because he needs us to love him more.”

God knows our need for love while we often forget it. God’s love is the spiritual air that fills our lungs, without it our soul’s death is inevitable.
