Sin is sticky. Like rubber cement all over our hand, we try hard to get it off and in turn just go on making a bigger mess. Finlly when we think we’ve got it off, the sticky residue still remains.
Christ came so that we could have freedom. Freedom from his wrath. Freedom from our guilt and shame. Freedom from sin.
This kind of freedom comes with a true pursuit of holiness in our lives. The only way to have more holiness (and less sin) is to have more of God in our lives.
One practical thing that I’ve been doing in my life is putting a sticky note in the place I am most likely to get “Stuck”. O that note I will write a verse or statement to remind me to look to Christ and to avoid sin. I place these in places where temptation may run rampant or sin is sure to abound. This simple reminder is directing me to the one who came to set me free.
