My world changed today. For fifteen months I’ve exited my car and put on a mask to enter the gym, a store, a restaurant, or any public place. We’ve lived without seeing each other’s faces. We’ve missed recieving or giving full expressions. We’ve missed being fully human in our ineractions— the way God intended.

Now, I exit my car without the need for a mask. Most business are taking the “Mask Required” signs down. People are smiling bigger than they ever have before. There is a level of humanness returning to our interactions.

I heard one lady say to another lady, “I’ve known you for nearly a year and I’ve never seen your face! Your smile is so pretty.” That made me smile.

Proverbs 15:13 says, “A glad heart makes a cheerful face.” When we rejoice in the Lord, it should show in our expression. That is hard to do with a mask on, but will be much easier now.

So smile today. Smile big. Show all those pearly whites. Let’s allow the smiles we share to be a reminder of God’s goodness that has shined upon us during this hard year on Earth. God was never worried. His purposes were never thwarted. He was always smiling down on us (Psalm 119:135).
